Pacific Northwest Road Trip — Day 7
May 2023
Time to head inland to the heart of Oregon wine country.
Ocean View Inn in Crescent City, California is not a place I’d recommend. The beds were uncomfortable and the breakfast was lacking.
At this point in our road trip, we realized we had crammed too many things into our itinerary. We were getting tired of constantly packing, unpacking, and taking in so many sights. This is where we changed our itinerary.
Instead of adding an extra 4 hours to our driving day to see a waterfall, we opted to visit a winery in Oregon and RELAX.
1st Stop: Silvan Ridge Winery: Eugene, Oregon
The drive was about 4 hours via US-199 and I-5N.
The drive inland to the winery was very pretty. We saw the beautiful Smith River traveling north through California to Oregon. It was sunny weather and the water in the river was a turquoise blue color. It’s worth stopping and snapping a picture.
Silvan Ridge Winery has been open for four decades. It is located in the Oregon’s Lower Willamette Valley/Upper Rogue Valley. We sat on the patio for our tastings with views of the rolling hills. We had a flight of 5 red wines along with a cheese and Charcuterie board. It was just what we needed to relax and unwind.
We were so impressed with the wines we tasted we joined the wine club. Shipping is only $10 per order. As a bonus, our tasting was free because we joined.
